Sunrise

Sunrise at Lempuyang Temple + Yoga + Lunch + Spa Report! | Bali sunrise

June 7th, 2011. It was my first time to go to see sunrise in 4 years since I moved to Bali! The tour usually starts at 3:00am picking-up guests at hotel, but HIRO-Chan staff, Maru and I were not confident enough to wake up, so we stayed in Candidasa the day before and started it at 5:00am next day! Let’s check out the recommended tour by Bali Club to feel energy of the nature in Bali! by Koni

Leaving to Lempuyang at 6:00am!

A hotel we stayed at was Candi Beach Cottage. We left there at 5:00am and drove 1 hour. It was still dark, so difficult to see what was around. However, I could just tell we were climbing a mountain.

We finally arrived at the sunrise point around 7:00am. It was much cooler than I expected!! We walk about few hundret meters to get to the bank to see sunrise.

This point has great views of sunrise on one side and Mt. Agung on the other. There were no marks on the bank in the mountain. It was unbelievable to find the place!

As you know, sunrise is a part of the nature, so sometimes you might not be able to see it. Even though the sky had some clouds, there was a great chance to see sunrise. The sky was slowly becoming red.

Balinese coffee and sweets + sunrise! This is a Bali Club way to wait for sunrise!! Our guide and driver made coffee for us! I was in the t-shirts in the photo above, but it was really cold outside. Don’t forget to bring a jacket!

This photo was edited lighter, so it looked bright outside, but it was still before sunrise! Everyone was waiting for it with cameras ready!

The area was like this! I couldn’t see it, because it was too dark! locals rarely use this mountain road. Are you ready? Enjoy the sunrise!

It was a start of the new day. This is the most beautiful sunrise in Bali! I could feel the sunshine with my full body on Mt. Lempuyang! The cool air made me refreshed. It was making me clear from inside.

I could see a pink color of Mt. Agung on the other side! It made me appreciated to wake up early and enjoy this great view!

Pray with Hindu Style in Temple in the Sky

It took only 5 minutes to get to Lempuyang Temple after enjoying the sunrise. We went inside of the temple with a sarong on.

Lempuyang Temple
It is located at the altitude about 1,000m at the top of Mt. Seraya in Eastern Bali. It is not famous as a sightseeing spot, but one of the greatest Hindu temples same with Besakih Temple
Lempuyang Temple is considered as a power spot with full of energy by god and light. When misfortunes continues, people in Bali visit this temple to pray under the god to clear up both mind and body.

Lempuyang Temple has various temples in the same area. You have to take 1,600 steps of the stairs to get to the one on the top. There are big temples on the way, so we decided to pray there. It was right next to the parking lot, but I was surprised the size of the temple and the dynamic atmosphere! I have visited various Hindu temples in Bali, but this temple has a very tight atmosphere.

Since the stairs were inclines sharply, taking the 40 steps was tough. Go slow! Take your time!

Don’t look back until I say ok!” the guide said. I kept climbing up the stairs by thinking about what the guide said which reminded me of Greek Mythology.

“Finally got to the top” I thought, but there was another stairs to lead us to the temple on the top. Temple in the sky! Then, the guide finally gave us a permission to look back.

OMG! The gorgeous view of Mt. Agung was there!!!!!

We usually see the mountain in a far distance, but now we are at the same height and from such a close distance. (The height is not actually same but it was like looking at it from the side.)

It is known as “Temple in the Sky”, but I was not expecting to see such a beautiful view! Both Maru and I could not say a word! Bali has many temples, but this is the only temple with such a special view!!!! Bravo!

The view gave us energy to finish climing up the second stairs! There are 3 stairs in a line. The middle one is for God, so we, humans take the ones on the right to go up and the left to go down. As you can see from the photo, Maru put a towel around his shoulder, because it was really cold!

After the 70 stairs, we finally arrived at the main temple! There was no sign of life, but many people were praying inside!

Look at cute kids in the temple! Local children were playing around behind the people praying

People who finished praying were gone and we were the only one in the temple. we tried Balinese pray following the guide! At first, we placed a offering called “Canang” which has various colors of flower petals and grains of rice in front of us and put incense sticks on the ground. Both Canang and incense sticks will be prepared by a guide in the tour.

A monk of Balinese Hindu, Mangku sprinkled holy water on the head, hands and we keep it in the mouth little bit and then put grains of rice on the forehead.

Finally pray for 5 times. First is for consentrating on mind, second is for sun, third is for god in temple, forth is for 9 gods of Hindu and last one is to regret mistakes in the past.

Pray in Lempuyang Temple with the cool air. It made me feel refreshed!

Sunshine was coming through Chinese Banyans. Getting energy from the sun would make my day special!

Get Vitamins by Fruits

30 minutes after we left the temple, we got back to Candi Beach Cottage.

A smack was provided before yoga lesson. We were led to the restaurant in front of the beach.

The 2 storied buildings has full of tropical atmosphere. The weather was perfect!

Enjoy slices of fruits, yogurt and Balinese coffee!

Look at the beautiful beach! It was like a private one!

Yoga Lesson with Ocean View

I was looking for this yoga lesson! It is recommended putting comfortable clothes from the hotel, but you can change at a changing room next to the pool.
A Balinese style arbor called “Bale” in the garden was where we took the yoga lesson! It was the best location with the ocean and the plants!

A yoga instructor who has visited India to learn yoga was very calm and had a charming smile! The lesson was done in English!

The level of the lesson is based on the participants’ level. We were all beginners, so the teacher said “Let’s try easy yoga poses!”

I have joined Yoga Lesson at Prana Spa for an inspection before. This lesson was much easier than the one at Prana!! I could just enjoy it without any difficulties.

The lesson ended by laying down on the mattress to empty the mind and made it calm.

It was very comfortable to feel fresh and little bit tired. I just wanted to take a nap on the mattres.

At the end, we tried a pose for backache coming from a desk work. This was great!! I want to take it every week! Thank you very much!

Enjoy Tropical Resort in Free Time

You will have an hour free time after the yoga lesson. It is up to you to spend time swimming in the pool, take a jacuzzi take a shower in the cottage or have a cup of tea at the restaurant.

Branch at Alila Manggis♪

“Alila Manggis” was designed by a famous architect who was also in charge of a design of Aman Resort. I had wanted to visit here for a long time!! Their healthy lunch is a last enjoyable morment in this tour!

It took about 5 minutes by car from Candi Beach Cottage. A mixture of modern and traditional Balinese furniture made the atmorsphere more gorgeous!

Alila’s recommendation “Sea Salt Restaurant” has a great view of the beach, the garden and the pool in the hotel from tables under the big roof! The healthy lunch I was looking for is
THESE!!!

Anti ・Bast
Mix Vegetable, Garlic, Herb, Basil Taste

Tomato ・Cheese Salad
Slice of Organic Tomato, Local Cheese, Caramel, Balsamico

Club・Cake
Fried Club Cake, Green Salad with Balinese Lime Dressing

Mahi-Mahi Marinade
Organic Salt, Sugar, Marinade Mahi-Mahi with Herb and Brown Toast

Seasonal Tropical Fruits & Sherbet

My favorite food is No.1 meat, No.2 fish and No.3 vegetables, but all the dishes in the course were very tasty! They use a lot of olive oil and herbs, but I could taste sweetness of each vegetable! Even if you do not ike vegetables, you will not help yourself to enjoy this meal!

I ordered extra Strawberry Kintamani Shake (about Rp.60,000). It has yogurt and tastes little bit sweet! The atmosphere of the restaurant added extra tastes to the meal! This is a perfect spot to end the tour! It started in the early morning, but I had such a wonderful time to charge energy and be refreshed!

+Recommended Spa Course!
It costs only $11 to add a 2 hours spa course at Siesta Spa. You can choose one from the popular two courses! My recommended course is the one with Shirodhara called “Ayurveda Mind” which is a great way to remove tiredness of a day!

Tour to Charge Full Energy in Bali

This tour is following a consept of “Be beautiful charging energy with a whole body in Bali!” and what we did in the tour were exactly for it! It starts at 3:00am which made me sure the tour sponsor, Bali Club is serious about providing guests the best! It became one of the unforgettable day in Bali to watch beautiful sunrise, pray at Lempuyang Temple, take a yoga lesson and have a healthy meal! I have nothing to complain about this tour! All the tours by Bali Club have an opportunity to see and experience real Bali! Jjoin this tour if you want to see a true side of Bali!

This healthy tour has a great chance to watch beautiful sunrise and a beautiful view of Mt. Agung and experience yoga. The temple in the sky is something you do not want to miss! In that case, you will stay a night at Candi Beach Cottage. Please contact us for more details!
