On Sep. 15th, 2009, I went to Submarine organized by Odyssey, which comes back after closing business for 1 year! The submarine can dive into 35 m depth under the sea, and there are only two such kind submarines in the world. The diving spot is beautiful, Amuck Bay area in east Bali. I, Aiko, is becoming the expert of marine activities and report today!
Go to Amuk Bay, east Bali!
I join the morning session, “Dive extra”!
I left my office in Jimbaran at 7:30 am, and ahead to Amuk Bay on by-pass to north.
It’s nice driving along the sea shore～♪
From the south resort area, it takes 1.5 to 2 hours. It’s a normal rural area. I can see blue sea from the parking!!
Today might be high tide, the waves come to my feet. Beautiful sea! Good view!

This is the Submarine Office, which has southern country atmosphere. Nice Bali architecture thatched roof!
First, sign-up at the reception and scale weight. It’s necessary to scale weight because they need to decide the weight of plumb to put on the submarine. But, feel easy, nobody knows your weight, only receptionists know!!

Today’s diving has 7 people’s reservation, and I had to wait until all guests show up. During this time, changing clothes, putting belongings to the locker, and ready for diving.
There are free snack prepared, pound cake, biscuits, and coffee, so if you miss breakfast on the day, you don’t need to worry! I ate noodle for breakfast, but I ate here again! Pound cake was tasty～☆
Safety box with key. It’s big enough to put big belongings. You have to take care of your key by yourself.

There are 4 dressing rooms. Looks small but wide enough to change clothes. There are hangers for put bags.
Next to the dressing room is WC. It’s flush toilet and tissues prepared. I always bring tissue with me for Indonesian style WC, so I’m happy to see such a comfy WC!
There is shower room inside of dressing room. That’s outside space, so just rinse your body. Don’t take off all wearing.
Meanwhile, all guests are ready. 7 of us, 2 Americans, 3 Japanese, and 2 from Hiro-chan. We check schedule through explanation from the guest relation, Luri. (left picuture)
Do not forget to go to WC because there is no WC in the submarine!
This is the submarine! (left one) Marine sports, banana boat and snorkeling, are held at the right side pontoon. Today’s schedule is diving by submarine, then eating lunch, and enjoying marine sports at the pontoon.
Moved to the submarine by a small boat. You have to walk in water to ride on the boat, so it’s better to wear short pants!
Soon, we arrived. The uniform of crews is so cool!
Ride on to the submarine and take picture! You can buy one for $4 at lunch time. Climb down a ladder and go into the submarine. Exciting, ya! Let’s go!!
Dive into 35M depth under the Sea World!
Climb down 10 steps of a ladder and go into the submarine. Blue lighting is really SUBMARINE!!
The submarine takes a rout around Amuk Bay; we can see great view from right side first and from left side on the way back. Therefore, sit down on the right side of the seat first. While on surface of sea, it’s rolled a little, but once the submarine dive under the sea, it’s really quiet. I couldn’t figure out that the submarine is moving or outside view is moving! If you get sick easily, you might be okay to try this～！！
This is the captain’s room. There are so many buttons and levers. The red number indicates the depth. Unit by feet, so it’s about 20 m!
When we reach the under the sea, 2 divers are show up! They make feeding and bring fish nearby the windows～
Picture, picture! I want to be such a diver.
The submarine and divers move under the sea slowly. By feeding, so many fish come closer to us!! It’s really clear water and cleaned window, so it’s great view!
I couldn’t take a good picture, but there are swarms of small yellow fish!
This is the famous fish in Bali. I researched, and the fish is the kind of butterfly fish. Maybe…

Slowly diving to the deepest to 35m. By the going to deeper, the water changed color, greenish blue to clear blue. We can see coral reef and sandy soil, and enjoy the view of the deep-sea, so we never get bored! I was stick to the window! Fun～!!!
At the end, we could see a sunken ship. In the ship, I could find a big fish!! Wow!
Buffet Restaurant on the Sea Shore!
It was really fun, submarine! Walk to the restaurant next. It’s comfy atmosphere, like Bali. It has good view of the sea shore.
You can enjoy over 10 kinds of dishes! You can try Bali flavor by putting the Bali traditional source. I had sambal and sambal matah.
↓ There are fried fish, shrimp, and chicken BBQ. We had baked clams～ ! There are mineral water, coffee, and fruit. All over, the taste is okay.
Bo back to the Coral Reef Sea!
Today, we covered “Submarine + Marine Sports,” so we went back to the sea after lunch! This package includes Snorkeling, Canoeing, Banana Boat, Doughnut Rider, and Fish Game♪
First is single-ride canoeing. I tried it on Beach Club Cruise by PT. Bali Hai Cruise before! It’s easy, and fun to enjoy unstable riding.
We moved to the pontoon to try other 4 sports by wearing the life jacket. Here is the pontoon.
I rode on the Banana Boat which can be ride on up to 4 persons. Ride with an instructor, and let’s go.
Sailing around the sea with big sound. You can request, “Drop me!” or “Don’t drop me!”
This is my first time to try Doughnut Rider! This is new releasing marine sport. It’s bumping badly by hitting to waves what I imagined!! You might shout～ It’s new kind of scream machine!
Fish Game! It’s the game of hanging down a fishing line with chopped shrimp. I can see many fish there… they are coming closer to my legs… but, they just steal feed! Shoot…
I liked the Snorkeling best! We wear the equipments and go on to the sea with instructor. It’s about 5 to 7m depth!
It’s limited place to swim, however, it’s broad enough. You can see the coral reef, look like a big rock♪
Look at this clear-water! We can see the bottom of sea by sunlight. Awesome, it’s super beautiful!!!
We can almost touch to the coral reef. There are so many small stripe-body fish!! They are really friendly and come really closer to face. Pretty!
Why do you have such a beautiful color? They are really vivid color. It was the greatest snorkeling what I ever experienced! If you apply the Submarine, try Marine Sports, too Ｏ(≧▽≦)Ｏ
【Extra】 Fish Feeding!
This is the secret menu, Fish Feeding. It’s Sea Walker-type of activity without the helmet. From the mask, oxygen supply to us. We walk around the pontoon down to 5 to 7m deep. I tried to wear the mask only… (left picture)
It was really really fun to join “Submarine + Sports Package.” I didn’t know that it is such a great tour! Do you think that submarine is only for kids? No, no, not only kids but also adults stick on window because of the great view. I cannot swim, but I could see such a view of the sea… thanks for the improvement of science☆ Then, it’s the good point that you can enjoy the sea by doing Marine Sport after lunch. I recommend the Snorkeling!! I almost forgot that I came here for job ( ´∇ ｀ )
You should consider that clearness of the water would be changed by the tide of wave… You will see, depends on the power of nature～ Talking about the price, it’s little bit expensive comparing with the cruise and Sea Walker in other company. I personally think that if you want to try the Submarine, you had better try other marine Sports also, because Amuk Bay is kind of far. To be honest, you should enjoy mare than only Submarine!! We are going to coordinate other optional tours including submarine, so stay on tune～(〃＾▽＾〃)
