On May 3, 2010, I visited the brand new spa which was opened last year, “Talaga Spa”! Talaga Spa’s specialty is “Original Coconut Oil.” The first rank Coconut Virgin Oil that is made in the own factory is really smooth on skin as it’s not needed to rinse off, and the oil is known as the high quality which is used in one famous spa also. Moreover, it’s attractive that all therapists in the spa took over 600 hours training and they are skillful. This time, I tried the most popular menu, “Magical Coconut”!
Visiting Talaga Spa!
Leaving office in Jimbaran at 9:30 in the morning, and arriving at Talaga Spa around 10:00. It’s very good location! It locates near from center of Kuta and also good access from Seminyak. In addition, it’s little far from very busy area, so it is kept quietness; great location.
Ride on the neat shuttle car of Talaga Spa and arrive there! The spa is build along the road and building type architecture, so there is no entrance gate or garden.
Outside of spa. It’s fashionable design with three stories building, so it stands out.
Through the entrance, there is the reception in front. Staffs welcome us.
The left side is the lobby. It’s fashionable and high-class atmosphere with the dark red sofa, mirror wall, and wooden interior.
Rose is floating in the classic vase. It’s dark light, and it’s stylish and calm atmosphere.
Welcome Drink is coconut fruit juice.
While having a drink, fill out the counseling sheet. I can request the strength of massage, so I check “strong” without hesitation!!
Magical Coconut is the most popular menu for Japanese guests. I can choose the kind of scrub and oil in here. They have 3 kinds of scrub; Orange, Rose & Jasmine, and Frangipani. I chose the fresh scent, orange!

As it says Talaga Spa, it’s Coconut Oil! The highly pure oil made in own factory is really qualified as it’s used in one famous spa. The oil also can be chosen from 3 kinds.
・Enhance energy, ENERGING （Ylang Ylang scent）
・Liven up romantic feeling SENSUAL （Rose & Jasmine scent）
・Relieve body and mind tiredness RELAXING （Lavender & Lemon scent）
I chose not too sweet fragrance, RELAXING.
I tried to apply the oil on my arm, then as I expected, it’s really different touching comparing with other normal spas and I’m excited to try the treatment!
As it says Oil Massage, some people don7t like sticky touching of oil, however, this oil is really smooth and not sticky at all, and it’s absorbed on skin. As the metaphor, it’s not sticky and heavy salad oil, but it’s smooth and light olive oil.
Touring Treatment Room & Facility!
I observe inside of the spa. It’s three stories building; the first floor is the reception & lobby, the second and third floor has 31 treatment rooms.
Take off shoes in the first floor and put them into the shoes basket with number. Climb up wooden fantastic stair to the second floor. The stair is narrow but it’s separated for climbing up and down, so there is no chance to pass each other with other guests.
Inside doesn’t have broad space, but it’s lighten with orange light, Balinese drawing and objects are shown, and it’s different atmosphere which is separated from outside world. The special space makes me forgetting that here is Kuta.
◆ Treatment Room ◆
All 31 treatment rooms have flower’s name on the second floor and the jewels’ name on the third floor. Comparing other spas, the room is small and simple but not old. They only have what they need for treatment.
The specialty is the single room. There are 18 single rooms and all rooms are connecting style! Besides single using, I recommend it for friends, family, and couple who think “I want to use the same room but I embarrass to be seen my treatment by accompany…”!!
There are 13 twin rooms.
Put valuables to the wooden locker under the bed. The clothes that you cannot put on hangers and underwear are need to be in the rattan basket or this locker.
Talaga Spa doesn’t have shower and bath. It’s because of following their concept, “In order to absorb coconut virgin oil into the skin, recommend not taking shower before leaving.”
I understand it after I took the treatment, actually, it’s not sticky at all so no need to take shower. My skin becomes smooth and good smell so if I take a shower, I waste the effect!
However, for guests who “want to rinse off!”, there is the small shower in WC, so it can be used. They prepare shampoo and body soap beside the shower, but it is in WC, and there are only 4 WC in the spa, so you might not take shower with relaxing.

Star from Foot Ritual
Like the offering for Hindu temple on the plate, they are products for Foot Ritual. Champaca, Lime, Salt, and Frangipani, etc… The offering “Canang” which is often seen in all over Bali has the vivid color petals, “Pacha.”
Today’s therapist is Ifo, she is working in Talaga Spa since it opened. She has 3 years experience.
Spa treatment of Bali usually start from Foot Ritual (Foot Bath), but each spa offers different one!
The amount of flower, of course, some spa just roughly rinse foot, some spa offer foot cares in a short time, and so on.
I give 5 stars for this Foot Ritual!!
It’s using lots of flower and rinse foot by coconut juice that made me feel luxury. Plus, the length of Foot Massage time is long! With strength, massage through toes.
I took the treatment with my clothes, but I wish I could wear gown. They don’t use gown besides going to WC.
Orange Flavor Body Scrub
After Foot Ritual, the therapist goes out from the room once, so take off all clothes and wear the black paper underwear. These are products for today’s treatment.
Talaga spa’s Body Scrub is the cream type that is different from other spa! It contains coconut oil, so it’s heavier than normal scrub, and moisturized touching.
Lie down on back, put scrub cream on arm→ hand→ tight→ foot→ stomach, and take a few minutes to dry, then start scrubbing by palms. As I wrote “Strong” on the counseling sheet, she gives strong massage without telling anything. I like the strong one so it’s really good!!
Rubbed scrub is sticking each other like eraser’s wastes, and drop on the sheet.
Get rid of scrub as lie down on back, and swipe body cleanly with hot towel.
Next, turn over to put scrub cream→ dry→ scrubbing for back→ tight→ leg. The fresh scent of orange is splashed in the room, and scrub powder is roughly touching on my skin! I like scrub pretty much!! As the evidence, I fall into doze; usually I don’t fall asleep during covering…
And then, continue to Touch Healing using Resonance.
Healing by Resonance & Aura Touch
Resonance means sympathetic vibration. Ring the mysterious sounds, resonance (resonator) and lead the guest’s body and mind to be relaxed. I hear the marvelous echo in the room.
“Aura Touch” Healing is healing by the aura from palms without touching guest’s body. All therapists learned as the healer besides massage skills. I fell into doze, so I’m not sure I feel the aura or not…
Stronger Stimulus! Balinese “Urut” Massage
Treatment continues to Balinese Massage. RELAXING Oil that I chose at the counseling is really smooth on skin with a little amount, and my skin is covered by the film. Anyways, it’s very different from other normal oils.
Massage for stomach with slippery oil. This is really good!! Look at the hand movement, which can remove body fat.
Next is the upper body. Strong massage for neck, shoulder, and décolleté. Turn my face, and press and move thumb through back neck to shoulder which has chronic stiffness. It’s really good massage for shoulder stiffness! Yes, that’s the spot!!
Massage moves to lower part of body. Balinese “Urut” Massage includes Swedish massage technique, so the massage has stretch also which Balinese Massage doesn’t have usually.
I like this back massage with fists↑↑ Put my hand on back, and massage the shoulder blade!
There are many therapists who just have strength, but not many therapists who has good balance for both side of strength. Ifo is still young but she has the good balance. She also asked me sometimes, “How is the strength?” She is really careful therapist. I’m impressed her professional job!
Warming Body Hot Herbal Pouch
This time, turn on AC in the small room, so I feel cold during the treatment. I’m almost naked and putting scrub paste makes body cold.
After turn off AC, I’m still cold for a while, but this Herbal Pauch (herbal ball) makes my body warmed!
At the end, swipe body by towel and put Orange scent body cream. And then, it’s the second time healing session.
For “Chakra” Touch Healing, stimulate 7 Chakra in whole body, improve the spiritual circulation.
I close my eyes and stay calm, the therapist’s hand slowly moves rounding on top of Chakra. I feel little bit warm on the part… Is it the real hand power? It was the mysterious 10 min.
Wear the gown to go to WC. Continue to head massage. I feel so good, especially on my base of neck!!
Head Skin Massage is also good. Hold and pull the band of hair is my first time experience, and the stimulation is new to me! One more time, please!!
Finally, 2.5 hours Magical Coconut was end. At last, fill out the questionnaire. I checked “Very Good” for “Skills of therapist” and “Quality of products”!
For the room, it is the simple design, the gown is not prepared, and the sheet is not neat salon but like bed sheet… so I checked “Normal.”
Finishing with Hot Coconut Drink within the coconut seed cup. It was the first time spa that use coconut for all treatments, but I could feel the difference of my skin after finishing!! It’s really smooth and moisturized, and I can smell good scent because of the finishing body cream. I understand that no need to take a shower, rather than I don’t want to take it because I don’t want to lose the silky touch! Thank you very much!

The 22nd time Spa Covering! Aiko’s Impression
Talaga Spa that I visited this time is, “Capable Spa with Simple Offer.” About Oil, Scrub, and Cream, all products are high-class quality and they are not in other spas. They have great effects on skin and good scents.
And, the therapist’s skill of strength, the great technique for pressing right spots, and good control of strength was thumbs up!! Their popularity with 600 hours training was the real.
In the spa, it has the red color wall and orange light. It doesn’t have broad space, but it has stylish atmosphere with high quality. They also offer detailed service, such as preparing for the private counseling room for single guests.
I want to point out that the treatment room is little bit small and simple design. They prepare what we need for the treatment, however, if guests seek the gorgeous and big room, it might not meet the expectation.
In addition, throughout the treatment time, it was chilly. Because of small size of the room, the room temperature was not going up after turn off AC and my body was cold. However, it’s not big problem if you ask “It’s too cold.” and “Turn off AC, please.” on prior.
Anyways, I could feel the effect in this covering. I felt my skin in the car on the way back, and it was amazingly smooth! My skin was changed to soft skin with “moisturized” and “silky.” Moreover, when I went back to my office, other staffs told me, “You have good scent!” and I was so happy!
I recommend Talaga Spa for who seek “great technique for massage, effective treatment, and fashionable atmosphere”!
